Arina Gorbatyuk is a Research Fellow and Postdoctoral Fellow at KU Leuven's Centre for IT & IP Law (CiTiP), funded by the Research Foundation Flanders (FWO). She coordinates courses in 'International and European Patent Law' and co-coordinates 'Problems of IP and ICT in Practice' for KU Leuven's Master of Intellectual Property and ICT Law program.
Her education includes a Bachelor of Law from Moscow State Institute of International Relations (2010) and an LL.M. in European and International Intellectual Property Law from the University of Strasbourg's CEIPI (2012), completed under an Erasmus Mundus Scholarship.
Her research examines intellectual property ownership frameworks with emphasis on:
- Transparency in IP registries and blockchain solutions
- Patent allocation in R&D collaborations
- Legal challenges in open innovation ecosystems
Her publications focus on patent law modernization, analyzing trends in ownership transparency, contractual governance of joint inventions, and blockchain's role in IP transactions.

She previously contributed to an ESA consultancy on IP ownership and collaborates with the interdisciplinary research program 'Open Innovation: The Interaction between Legal Architectures & Innovation Strategies'.
