Julien Cabay serves as Associate Professor at Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB) and Université de Liège (ULiège), holding the Chair in Intellectual Creation and Innovation Law at ULB where he co-directs JurisLab within the Center for private law at FabLab ULB. He concurrently teaches in ULiège's LL.M. in EU Competition and IP Law as a member of the Liège Competition and Innovation Institute (LCII), while maintaining invited professorships at KU Leuven (Master of IP&ICT Law) and CEIPI/University of Strasbourg (AI & IP Diploma), alongside affiliation with Geneva's Digital Law Center and membership on Belgium's Intellectual Property Council.

Professor Cabay's research centers on Intellectual Property Law with specialized expertise in Copyright Law and AI integration, leading ULB's ARC-funded IPSAM project analyzing algorithmic decision systems in intellectual property assessment. His work bridges theoretical legal frameworks with practical technological applications, particularly in digital innovation contexts.
He directs the IPSAM research initiative examining algorithmic systems in IP evaluation and has secured sustained funding through Belgian National Fund for Scientific Research (F.R.S-FNRS) fellowships (2010-2014 Research Fellow; 2016-2020 PostDoc Researcher), complemented by international engagements including Columbia University (2012-2013) and Rio de Janeiro's Instituto de Tecnologia e Sociedade (2018).
