Arijit CHATTERJEE is a Professor of Management at ESSEC Business School's France campus since 2022, previously serving as Associate and Assistant Professor at its Singapore campus (2009-2022). He concurrently holds the position of Associate Academic Director of MiM (2022-2025) and serves on ESSEC's Professor Recruitment Committee and Asia-Pacific Campus Steering Committee since 2017.
His research spans strategic management, organizational behavior, and sustainability, with particular focus on CEO leadership dynamics, grand challenge mitigation, and institutional change. Early career work established foundational research on narcissistic CEOs and risk-taking, while recent work examines climate hazard navigation, regional variation in leadership, and bottom-up approaches to sustainability. His fieldwork concentrates on Indian contexts including Ghoramara Island and Bengal's cultural industries.
Chatterjee's publication portfolio reveals a clear evolution from executive psychology studies to complex socio-ecological systems research. His recent work (2023-2025) increasingly addresses climate challenges through spatial and scalar analysis, while maintaining methodological rigor in qualitative field research. Key thematic clusters include leadership in extreme environments, cross-scale institutional work, and sustainable value chain development.

Chatterjee actively contributes to academic service as Administrative Science Quarterly editorial board member (2013-present) and journal reviewer for top publications including Academy of Management Journal and Strategic Management Journal. His field-based research methodology involves deep engagement with communities in climate-vulnerable regions, particularly through case studies of Indian social enterprises and cultural institutions. Current projects examine oscillation between extreme and normal conditions in disaster response and mutual dependence in grand challenge mitigation.
