Dr. Arif Sahar is a researcher at the Centre of Excellence in Terrorism, Resilience, Intelligence and Organised Crime Research (CENTRIC) Institute at Sheffield Hallam University, leading the Political Violence theme. He previously worked at the University of Derby, focusing on education and social development. His academic background includes a BA in Law/Sociology and MA in Politics from University College London (UCL), followed by a PhD on Afghanistan's political economy of state-building, emphasizing education.

Research Focus: Arif's work centers on international security, terrorism, and political violence, particularly in Afghanistan. Grants & Advising: Co-supervises a comparative PhD project on theories/practices in Australia and the UK. He founded the Kabul-based think-tank, Centre for Peace & Development Studies, and has advised the Afghan Government and international agencies like the World Bank, UNDP, and DFID.
