Ariella Minden

Ariella Minden is a Researcher at the Bibliotheca Hertziana – Max Planck Institute for Art History, affiliated with Prof. Dr. Tristan Weddigen's department. Her work focuses on Renaissance printmaking, media theory, and the historical intersection of science, medicine, and technology.

Minden's research examines Bologna as a printmaking hub through media theory, analyzing early artistic technologies and the role of failure in creative processes. She co-organized the international conference Failure: Understanding Art as Process, 1150–1750 (2020) with Alessandro Nova and Luca Palozzi.

Prior to joining the Bibliotheca Hertziana in 2023, she held roles at the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz-Max-Planck-Institut (2018–2022) and Dr. Sietske Fransen’s research group (2022). Her curatorial experience spans institutions like the Israel Museum and Gallerie Estensi.
