Ariella Minden is a Researcher at the Bibliotheca Hertziana - Max Planck Institute for Art History, working within the department of Prof. Dr. Tristan Weddigen. She earned her PhD in 2024 from the University of Toronto with a dissertation titled "In Dialogue: Medial Thinking in Bolognese Printmaking, 1500–1530" and holds an M.A. (2016) from the Courtauld Institute of Art and a B.A. (2015) from the University of Toronto.
- Research Focus: Examines Bologna’s role as a center of printmaking through media theory, exploring intersections of artistic technology, mediality, and intermediality.
- Additional Interests: Analyzes the role of failure in artistic processes (1150–1750) and historical connections between art and literature.
Minden has significant curatorial experience, including roles at the Centre for Reformation and Renaissance Studies (Toronto), the Israel Museum (Jerusalem), and the Gallerie Estensi (Modena). She previously collaborated with Dr. Sietske Fransen’s research group Visualizing Science in Media Revolutions at the Bibliotheca Hertziana (2022) and worked in Prof. Dr. Alessandro Nova’s department at the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz-Max-Planck-Institut (2018–2022).
