Aricca D. Van Citters is a Senior Research Scientist at The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy & Clinical Practice, part of the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth College. Her work focuses on co-designing, implementing, and testing learning health systems for patients with chronic or serious illnesses, emphasizing collaboration between patients and clinicians to improve outcomes and care quality.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Dartmouth College; Master of Science from The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy & Clinical Practice.
Her research explores how learning health systems can enhance patient-clinician partnerships, optimize health outcomes, and support high-value care delivery. Key areas include co-production of healthcare services for populations with serious illness, adult inflammatory bowel disease, rheumatology conditions, and cystic fibrosis.
Van Citters has 20 years of experience conducting qualitative and quantitative evaluations in healthcare settings. Her prior work includes analyzing factors driving hospital quality improvements and studying health service interventions for older adults with serious mental illness. She has also provided technical assistance for evidence-based mental health care implementation and coached hospitals on improving patient experiences.
