Ariana Gomez is a Lecturer in Studio Art (Photography & Media) at the University of Texas at Austin, part of the College of Fine Arts and Department of Art and Art History. She teaches photography and bookmaking and is affiliated with the Mexic-Arte Museum in Austin, whose collection includes her works. Gomez is also a member of Diversify Photo Up Next and ICOSA, and her exhibitions and features span international venues, including galleries in Houston, New York City, and London.
Education:
- BFA from The Rochester Institute of Technology
- MFA from The University of Texas in Austin
Her research and artistic practice focuses on the interplay of identity, land, home, and memory, particularly through her parents' relationship with land. She employs photography, video, and sound to create immersive memory-scape installations. Recent works include My Mother Speaks of Land as Memory, The Blue of Distance, and Water Work, which explore themes of heritage and environment.

She also engages in community projects like Community Offrendas at the Mexic-Arte Museum and experimental screenings including Like Breath Upon My Chest in New York City.
