Aria Anwar is a doctoral student at the RePliV Graduate School (Religious Plurality in Vulnerable Contexts) at Ruhr University Bochum. She holds a Master of Arts in Social Sciences from the same institution. Her current role includes serving as a Research Associate at the Chair of Sociology, Organization, Co-determination and Migration within the Faculty of Social Sciences. Previously, she worked as a Lecturer at Bochum University of Health/Health Campus (2019) and as a Research Associate in multiple organizations focusing on labor markets, migration, and organizational sociology.
Her doctoral research examines religious plurality and discrimination experiences among Afghan-origin women in Germany, analyzing how religion functions as both a psychosocial resource and a marker of discrimination. Key research areas include migration studies, discrimination mechanisms, and the intersection of religion with socio-economic integration.
Professional experience includes roles as a human resources consultant, freelance lecturer in adult education, and project assistant in industrial engineering and organizational design. She has collaborated with institutions like AST-Bildung GmbH and the IAW Institute of Industrial Engineering at Ruhr University Bochum.
Her affiliations include the RePliV graduate school and the Faculty of Social Sciences. Supervision is provided by Prof. Dr. Jürgen Straub.
