Ari Ezra Waldman is a Professor of Law at the University of California, Irvine School of Law, internationally recognized for his scholarship at the intersection of law, technology, and marginalized communities. His work focuses on privacy law, digital governance, sociolegal studies, and LGBTQ+/queer theory, with a particular emphasis on how artificial intelligence, misinformation, and data systems affect vulnerable groups.
Waldman has authored two award-winning books: Privacy As Trust (2018) and Industry Unbound (2021). His peer-reviewed articles appear in top journals like Columbia Law Review, California Law Review, and Big Data & Society, exploring themes such as algorithmic legitimacy, performative privacy, and gender data in automated systems. He also contributes to public discourse in The New York Times and Slate.
