Areej Al-Hamad is an Assistant Professor at the Daphne Cockwell School of Nursing, Toronto Metropolitan University, and an adjunct professor at the University of Calgary (Canada and Qatar). She holds dual PhDs in Rural and Northern Health (Health Policy) and Nursing, with master’s and undergraduate degrees in Nursing from Jordan University of Science & Technology. Her expertise spans women’s health, vulnerable populations, refugee health research, social justice, and critical qualitative methods. Al-Hamad has extensive teaching and clinical experience across Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Canada.

Research focuses on food insecurity, refugee health, intersectionality, and international collaboration. Awards include the 2020 Joint Mental Health Research ‘Best Oral Presentation’ and 2021-2022 ‘Best PhD Dissertation’ (Western University).
Teaching spans undergraduate and graduate courses (e.g., community health, qualitative methods). She received a 2015/2016 Teaching Excellence Certificate from Western University. Current interdisciplinary projects include scoping reviews on nurse-led research, telemedicine during pandemics, and family medicine career preferences among Qatari students.
