Ardavan Mohammad Aghaei, MD, MPH, is a Research Fellow in the Department of Psychiatry at Yale University, conducting translational research under Dr. Anahita Bassir Nia. He holds an MD and MPH from Tehran University of Medical Sciences, with prior research in addiction epidemiology and social psychiatry. His work focuses on psychedelic drug mechanisms for treating substance use disorders and the role of the endocannabinoid system in stress/trauma responses. He is affiliated with the Bassir Nia Lab and Schizophrenia Neuropsychopharmacology Research Group at Yale (SNRGY).
Research interests include:
- Mechanisms of psychedelic therapies
- Endocannabinoid system modulation in substance use and trauma
- Addiction epidemiology in Eastern Mediterranean populations
He received the AAAP Early Career Research Award (2023), supporting his clinical trial engagement and research.
