Dr. Aravinda Guntupalli is a Senior Lecturer in Global Health at the Institute of Applied Health Sciences (IAHS), School of Medicine, Medical Sciences and Nutrition, University of Aberdeen, where he joined in December 2019. He serves as Programme Coordinator for the MSc Global Health and Management and Postgraduate Research Coordinator for IAHS. Previously, he held academic positions at The Open University (2015-2019) as Senior Lecturer in Public Health and Academic Lead for the Race Equality Charter, and at the University of Southampton (2007-2015) in the Social Policy Department and MRC Life Course Epidemiology Unit.

Dr. Guntupalli's research focuses on health inequalities through protected characteristics including age, gender, sexuality, and socio-economic status, with emphasis on non-monetary poverty indicators. His interdisciplinary approach combines quantitative methods with historical perspectives across settings including the UK and LMICs. Current projects examine COVID-19 impacts on nutrition among Indian migrant workers, non-communicable diseases in aging Indian populations, and healthcare access for marginalized groups. His publication record demonstrates consistent output in high-impact journals spanning public health, epidemiology, and social policy.

As a supervisor, Dr. Guntupalli currently advises PhD students in Applied Health Sciences and Nutrition, including Theadora Koller's research on equity-oriented 'rural proofing' of health policies in LMICs. His institutional service includes membership on the University Race Equality Strategy Group and Equality and Diversity Committee.
