Dr. David Wilson is a Senior Lecturer in Physiotherapy at the University of Winchester's Department of Health and Care Professions (part of the Faculty of Health and Wellbeing). He joined the university in 2019 after completing a research fellowship at the University of Southampton (2018-2019). Wilson holds a PhD from the University of Southampton, alongside degrees from the University of Plymouth (BSc Physiotherapy), University of Aberdeen (MSc Sports Nutrition), and University of Brighton (BSc Sports Science).
His research focuses on promoting physical activity, biomechanics of movement, exercise interventions for osteoarthritis, and the role of sport in joint health. Current studies include investigating golf's benefits on strength/balance in older adults. He has published extensively on topics like movement screening accuracy, single-leg squat biomechanics, and injury risk prediction in sports.
Wilson's work integrates clinical practice with academic research, emphasizing evidence-based approaches to improve musculoskeletal health and athletic performance. His publications span peer-reviewed journals in sports medicine, physiotherapy, and biomechanics, with particular attention to aging populations and elite athlete populations.
