Chris Ford is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Winchester, serving as Programme Lead for the Strength and Conditioning degree and Lead Strength and Conditioning Coach for Winchester’s Elite Sport Programme. His expertise spans athlete performance enhancement and injury prevention through movement analysis and force capacity assessment. He holds UKSCA accreditation and NSCA certification.
- Education: Currently completing a PhD investigating relative joint contributions (ankle, knee, hip) in movement patterns to identify joint dominance and its impact on exercise and sports skills.
Research Interests: Focuses on understanding joint strategy adaptations through training, sprinting mechanics, and jumping biomechanics. His PhD work explores how dominant joint patterns influence movement strategies and whether training interventions can modify these strategies to improve performance.
Labs/Teams: Integral to the Elite Sport Programme, supporting athletes in cricket, sprinting, middle-distance running, throwing events, badminton, Ironman, BMX racing, and tennis. Emphasizes high-intensity training to build movement proficiency and strength/power foundations.
