Anurag Gupta

Professor Anurag Gupta serves in the Department of Banking & Finance at Case Western Reserve University's Weatherhead School of Management, holding the academic rank of Professor since his 1999 appointment. His leadership roles include Vice Dean (2018-2020), Senior Associate Dean for Graduate Programs (2017-2018), and Director of the Master of Finance Program in Shanghai (2011-2022).

His educational background includes a PhD from New York University's Stern School of Business (1999), MBA from Indian Institute of Management-Calcutta (1992), and BS from Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (1990). These credentials established his foundation in quantitative finance and banking.

Gupta's research centers on risk management systems, banking regulation, and innovative financing for technology startups, particularly in renewable energy. His work bridges theoretical finance with practical applications in credit modeling and derivatives markets, evidenced by publications in the Journal of Financial Economics and Journal of Monetary Economics. Current projects include a major US Department of Energy grant focused on improving capital access for energy startups.
