Anurag Gupta

Anurag Gupta is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur. He holds a PhD (2008) and M.S. (2003) from UC Berkeley, and a B.Tech (2002) from IIT Roorkee. His doctoral thesis focused on 'Plastic flow in solids with interfaces' under the supervision of David Steigmann.

Professor Gupta's research explores geometry and mechanics of defects in thin structures, topological methods in mechanics, finite deformation plasticity, interfacial kinetics in solids, and nonlinear elasticity with applications to biological growth. He also studies the mechanics of Indian musical instruments.
