António Fontes Ramos

António Fontes Ramos is a Guest Professor at the Portuguese Catholic University's Institute of Political Studies in Lisbon, the Faculty of Social Sciences in Quelimane (Catholic University of Mozambique), and the Democracy and Development Institute in Cape Verde. He holds roles as Vice-President of Eurodefense Portugal and member of the Military Studies Section at the Lisbon Geographic Society. His career includes extensive military and international security experience, including serving as Portugal's Military Representative to NATO and EU Military Committees, Director of Army Administration, and operational roles in Mozambique (1968–70), Timor (1974–75), and Angola (1991–92). He specialized in crisis management post-9/11, addressing conflicts in Bosnia, Kosovo, Macedonia, and Iraq under NATO/UE frameworks.

His research focuses on Geopolitics and Geostrategy, with teaching in modules like Internal Conflicts, Peace and Security Studies, and Security in International Organizations. He contributed to the formation of Angola’s armed forces post-Bicesse Agreement and held strategic roles at the High Military Studies Institute in Lisbon.
