Antun Šundalić is a full Professor at the Department of Interdisciplinary Courses, Faculty of Economics, Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek, where he has been employed since 1992 and attained permanent professorship in 2012. He teaches core economics courses including 'Economy and Society' and 'Methodology of Scientific Research,' while also lecturing in sociology at multiple institutions across Eastern Croatia.
His research centers on regional identity formation in post-transitional societies, with specialized focus on rural Slavonia and Baranja regions. Šundalić employs interdisciplinary methodologies bridging economic sociology and regional development studies to analyze globalization's impact on Croatian rural communities. His scholarly output includes approximately 110 publications, five monographs, two university textbooks, and eight edited conference proceedings.
As principal investigator for the Ministry of Education-funded project 'Post-transitional identity of the rural area of Slavonia and Baranja,' he led significant empirical research on rural identity reconstruction. He initiated the biennial 'Globalization and Regional Identity' conference in 2007 and contributed to multiple collaborative projects with the Ivo Pilar Institute of Social Sciences in Zagreb.
