Antony W. Alumkal

Antony W. Alumkal is an Assistant Professor of Sociology of Religion at the Iliff School of Theology in Denver, Colorado. His research focuses on the intersection of religious beliefs and scientific discourse, particularly analyzing how the Christian Right employs scientific arguments to support its political and theological positions. Current research projects include examining reparative therapy literature and upcoming work on Intelligent Design Theory. Alumkal holds a Ph.D. with a dissertation titled "Ethnicity, Assimilation, and Racial Formation in Asian American Evangelical Churches: A Case Study of a Chinese American and a Korean American Congregation."

His interdisciplinary work bridges sociology, religious studies, and medical ethics, addressing topics such as LGBTQ+ issues in religious contexts and the sociopolitical dimensions of scientific claims. Alumkal also maintains a personal interest in music, having previously recorded low-budget demos during his time at Princeton University.
