Antonios Rengakos

Antonios Rengakos is a Professor at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, affiliated with the Faculty of Classics and its Department of Philology. He has held visiting positions at the University of Vienna and senior research roles at the University of Freiburg, establishing expertise in Homeric studies, Greek historiography, and Hellenistic poetry.

• Education: Dr. phil. and BA in Classics, Ancient History, and Archaeology from the University of Freiburg

Research interests center on ancient Greek literature, with emphasis on epic poetry, narrative techniques in classical texts, and intertextual analysis. His academic leadership includes chairing the Department of Philology and directing the Linguistics Department at the Centre for the Greek Language in Thessaloniki.

Scientific awards:

• Full member of the Academy of Athens (2011)

Editorial contributions include co-founding the journal Trends in Classics and its supplementary series with Walter de Gruyter, alongside Franco Montanari. He has supervised multiple PhD theses in classical philology topics.
