Antonio Garcia Lopez

Antonio García López is an Associate Professor in the Department of Fine Arts at the University of Murcia (UMU), specializing in Painting. He holds a Doctorate in Fine Arts from the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) and has been affiliated with UMU since 2003, serving as Secretary and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts until 2018. His academic roles include leading the research group 'ZEUS' (E0A6-01) since 2019, focusing on cinema-painting intersections and industrial materials in artistic creation.

Education: Licenciado and Doctor in Fine Arts from UPV (1993 and 2001). He has received prestigious awards, including two six-year research periods (2008–2019) and recognition for teaching excellence. His research explores new materials in painting, cinema’s influence on art, and innovative pedagogical methods. He has published over 30 articles and directed seven doctoral theses.

Research Interests: Painting techniques, cinema-painting interactions, industrial materials, and art education innovation. He has curated major exhibitions like 'Dinero-Dinheiro' (2018–2019) and 'Personajes insostenibles' (2023), showcasing works in institutions across Spain and Portugal. His artistic practice includes over 20 solo exhibitions and hundreds of collective shows, emphasizing collage, recycled materials, and social themes.

Grants and Projects: Led multiple educational innovation projects, including digital resource development for the UMU TV channel. He has coordinated EBAU examinations and advised international student exchanges with institutions like the University of Porto and Lisbon. His works are part of public collections in municipalities like Chiva, Almenara, and international venues like the Museo Marino Marini (Florence).
