Antonio Ficarella

Antonio Ficarella is a Full Professor of Energy and Environment Systems at the University of Salento, affiliated with the Department of Engineering for Innovation and Faculty of Industrial Engineering. His research spans fluid dynamics, energy systems, and aerospace propulsion, with a focus on unsteady and two-phase flows, combustion behavior, and innovative sensor development.

• Key Projects: Coordinated PRIN Cycle-Resolved Emissions Control, European INTERREG Renewable Energy & Forest Management, PON MALET for UAV propulsion, and TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT COMMUNITY with GE Avio.
• Labs: Leads the Green Engine Lab, specializing in industrial and aerospace energy systems.

Leadership Roles: Former Director of the Department of Engineering for Innovation (2013-2015), Dean of the Faculty of Industrial Engineering (2008-2012), and President of the ITS Aerospace Foundation since 2013. Active in European aeronautics advisory boards (ACARE, CTNA) and industry development committees.
