Dr. Antonio Calderón is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physical Education & Sport Sciences at the University of Limerick, serving as Course Director for the Professional Master of Education (Physical Education). His research focuses on digital pedagogies in higher education, curriculum models, and sociological aspects of physical education. He has held visiting scholar positions at institutions including the University of Porto, Auburn University, and the University of Auckland.
Key achievements include the 2017 Jennifer Burke Award for Innovation in Teaching and the 2021 UL Excellence in Teaching Award (Teams). He contributes to editorial boards for Curriculum Studies in Health and Physical Education and Journal of Teaching in Physical Education. His work addresses teacher educators' professional learning, pandemic-era pedagogy, and digital competency integration in education.
Research interests span digital technology integration, teacher professional development, and equity in physical education curricula.
