Dr. Michelle Dillon is a Lecturer in Physical Education at Mary Immaculate College (MIC), Limerick, Ireland, within the Department of Arts Education and Physical Education. She joined MIC in 2021, following roles as Senior Lecturer in Physical Education and Sport Pedagogy at Leeds Beckett University (UK), and prior positions at Dublin City University and the University of Limerick. Her expertise spans outdoor and adventure education, sports pedagogy, and teacher education. Dr. Dillon holds a BA in Fine Art (Limerick School of Art and Design), MSc (UL), and PhD (UL), with her doctoral research focusing on student teachers' learning experiences in outdoor and adventure education curricula.
Her professional background includes work as a manager and instructor in the outdoor sector, with certifications in sports like sailing, kayaking, and rock climbing. She has taught in Ireland, Japan, India, Sierra Leone, and England, emphasizing global educational practices. Dr. Dillon’s research interests include curriculum development, teacher training, and the integration of adventure education into formal schooling systems.
