Dr. Antonia Weiss is a postdoctoral researcher at Wageningen's Rural Sociology Group and Research Fellow at the AMS Institute. Educated in architecture (Cambridge BA Hons, Princeton M.Arch) and history (Amsterdam PhD), her multidisciplinary work connects design, history, and social research focusing on urban environmental justice.
Her doctoral research reconstructed how green space development in 18th-century Amsterdam and Berlin created gendered class hierarchies while enabling female agency. Current 'Deep Foodscapes' project investigates intersections between historical and contemporary urban food environments, documenting horticultural heritage of Amsterdam's migrant communities through participatory methods.
Beyond academia, Weiss has professional experience in architectural design and strategic technology planning for urban environments.
