Antonia Baraggia serves as Assistant Professor of Comparative Law at the University of Milan's Department of National and Supranational Public Law. She leads the CONFEDERAL research project on fiscal federalism and social rights funded by the Cariplo Foundation and holds affiliations with the American Society of Comparative Law's Younger Comparativists Committee (YCC) Executive Board.
Her research focuses on comparative constitutional responses to economic crises, examining judicial roles in protecting socio-economic rights during fiscal austerity. Key areas include cross-national analysis of court dialogues, economic conditionality mechanisms in the EU, and federalist approaches to social rights enforcement. Her methodology emphasizes inter-jurisdictional legal comparisons between European constitutional systems.
As Principal Investigator for the CONFEDERAL project, she directs empirical research on fiscal federalism models while contributing to policy debates through her publications. Her academic service includes shaping early-career comparatist initiatives through the YCC Executive Board.
