Pichler’s research explores the interplay between microeconomic interactions and macroeconomic dynamics through complex network structures. He investigates how localized disruptions—such as those during the Covid-19 pandemic—can cascade globally, affecting supply chains, labor markets, and financial systems. His work bridges economics, climate science, and network theory.
His recent publications emphasize granular supply network data for climate transitions, pandemic shock propagation, and systemic risk optimization. Collaborations with institutions like the OECD and policy engagement through G20’s Think20 highlight his impact on global frameworks.
- Scientific Awards: James S. McDonnell Fellowship
Anton appreciates WU’s world-class infrastructure and collaborative environment, noting the importance of interdisciplinary teamwork in advancing his research agenda.
