Antolin Hernandez Battez

Antolin Hernandez Battez is an Associate Professor in the Department of Construction and Manufacturing Engineering at the Polytechnic School of Engineering, University of Oviedo, Spain. He is also a Senior Visiting Research Fellow at Bournemouth University since 2009 and a member of the Lubrication and Surface Technology - LuSuTec research group. His work bridges academia and industry, focusing on advanced lubrication technologies.

He investigates the performance of ionic liquids in greases, base oils, and neat applications, assessing their biodegradability and corrosion behavior. His studies contribute significantly to green and sustainable lubrication solutions.

His recent publications reveal a strong trend in the application of fatty acid anion-based and phosphonium cation-based ionic liquids as high-performance, environmentally friendly lubricant additives. These studies span diverse areas including automotive transmission fluids, wind turbine gearboxes, and rail steels.
