Professor Antje Gohla is a faculty member at the University of Würzburg, affiliated with the Institute for Pharmacology and Toxicology. Her work bridges pharmacology, immunology, and cancer research through the lens of cellular metabolism.
Dr. Gohla's research focuses on targeting intrinsic metabolic pathways in immune and tumor cells as therapeutic strategies for autoimmunity, chronic inflammation, and cancer. Her work specifically investigates metabolite repair enzymes as potential targets for selective metabolic inhibition, with particular attention to glycolysis pathways. She has developed small molecule inhibitors targeting prototypical metabolite repair enzymes, suggesting novel approaches for pharmacological intervention in disease states where metabolic dysregulation plays a key role.
Her research program appears to be actively developing pharmacological tools to test the therapeutic potential of metabolite repair enzyme targeting, with implications spanning autoimmune disorders, inflammatory conditions, and oncology applications.
