Anthony Uren

Dr. Anthony Uren is a Lecturer in Biomedical Sciences (Blood Science) at the School of Biomedical Sciences, University of Plymouth. His research utilizes cancer genomes as investigative tools to understand tumor evolution and develop novel therapeutic approaches, employing methodologies from cancer informatics, comparative genomics, and mouse modeling.

His laboratory focuses on identifying early clonal mutations affecting tumor development and characterizing subclonal mutations responsible for treatment resistance. Current work emphasizes refining methods for analyzing subclonal mutations in tumor cohorts and validating mutated genes as therapeutic targets using primary lymphoma cultures and mouse models.

Dr. Uren has developed specialized molecular techniques including LUMI-PCR for integration site cloning and quantification. His research contributions span epigenetics, cancer genetics, and therapeutic development, with publications in Nature Metabolism, Nature Communications, and Aging Cell.
