Anthony Tirado Chase is a Professor in the Department of Diplomacy and World Affairs at Occidental College. He holds a B.A. from UC Santa Cruz, an M.A.L.S. from Columbia University, and an M.A.L.D. and Ph.D. from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy.

His research focuses on human rights, international organizations, and the politics of the Middle East and Muslim world. Recent projects explore city-level implementation of global norms (e.g., human rights, SDGs, transitional justice) in Los Angeles and the U.S., comparative social movements in the global south (Colombia, Tunisia, Egypt, Morocco), and conceptualizing Truth and Accountability processes for racial injustice.
His publications include Human Rights at the Intersections (2023), Handbook on Human Rights and the Middle East and North Africa (2017), and Human Rights, Revolution, and Reform in the Muslim World (2012). Trends in his work emphasize local-global governance synergies, racial justice frameworks, and cross-regional lessons from transitional justice initiatives.
