Anthony Siame is an Associate Professor and Chair of Biology at Trinity Western University's Faculty of Natural & Applied Sciences. He has taught courses in Introductory Biology, Biochemistry, and Microbiology since joining TWU in 2007. His research focuses on bacterial pathogenesis, specifically bacterial secretion systems and mycotoxins in food systems. He has authored over 20 publications, including studies on Edwardsiella species and mycotoxin contamination in Africa.
Education: PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (Purdue University, 1993); MSc and BSc in Chemistry (University of Zambia, 1987 and 1984). Prior to TWU, he taught at the University of Zambia and the University of Botswana, where he supervised graduate students on mycotoxin and cyanotoxin research. His work bridges microbiology, plant pathology, and public health.
Research highlights include investigating type III and VI secretion systems in pathogenic bacteria and assessing mycotoxin prevalence in crops. Recent work explores antibiotic resistance in aquatic environments. His collaborations with Dr. Leung and others underscore interdisciplinary approaches to microbial threats.
Publications reflect a focus on bacterial pathogenesis, mycotoxin contamination, and environmental microbiology. No scientific awards are explicitly mentioned, though his extensive publications indicate significant contributions to the field. His teaching spans undergraduate and graduate levels, emphasizing practical skills in biochemistry and microbiology.
