Anthony Scalmato

Anthony Scalmato is an Associate Professor in the Animation Department at the Cleveland Institute of Art (CIA). He is a professional animator and artist with over 100 published works across television, web, and mobile platforms. Prior to CIA, he served as a Senior Creative Developer at American Greetings, creating animations for global clients such as Taylor Swift, Disney, Sony, and Walmart. He is renowned for producing the first animated greeting card for Taylor Swift and overseeing the Care Package Chronicles web series featuring the Care Bears, produced in collaboration with CIA and American Greetings.

Scalmato’s research and creative work focus on blending artistic vision with technical innovation in animation and digital media. He emphasizes collaborative, real-world projects through CIA’s Animation Community Projects course, partnering with institutions like Disney Home Entertainment, the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and the Cleveland Museum of Natural History.
