معرفی
Anthony Lobo is an Associate Professor of Biology at Ursinus College and Co-coordinator of the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Program. He holds a B.S. in Microbiology from Pennsylvania State University and a Ph.D. in Microbiology from Cornell University, with postdoctoral training in Medical Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
His research focuses on interdisciplinary projects, including antibiotic resistance mechanisms using nanomaterial-conjugated antibiotics (collaborating with Dr. Mark Ellison, Chemistry) and isolating thermophilic microbes to degrade polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plastic (with Dr. Eric Williamsen, Chemistry). His work also explores halophilic archaea and microbial communities in wild-fermented foods.
Dr. Lobo has mentored numerous student researchers and celebrated his 25-year contribution to Ursinus College in 2023. His teaching spans Microbiology, Immunology, Molecular Biology, and Cell Biology. He is affiliated with the Innovation and Discovery Center and actively collaborates across disciplines to address environmental and biomedical challenges.
