Anthony LaStrape

Anthony LaStrape is an Associate Professor of Practice and Associate Chair in the Department of Professional Communication at Texas Tech University’s College of Media & Communication. He holds an Ed.D. from Tarleton State University (2019) and an M.A. from Texas State University (2015). His research focuses on Emerging Adulthood, Political Communication, Gender Communication, and Rhetoric, employing methodologies like Structural Equation Modeling and Rhetorical Analysis. He has published on athlete activism (e.g., Naomi Osaka’s mental health advocacy) and masculinities in sports (e.g., Peyton Manning’s retirement narratives). His teaching portfolio includes courses such as Rhetoric in Western Thought and Political Campaign Communication. He received the Teaching Excellence Award (2019) from the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD).
