معرفی
Anthony George is an Associate Professor and Adjunct Fellow at the School of Life Sciences, University of Technology Sydney (UTS), where he has been since 1986. He holds a PhD from the University of Sydney (1981) and completed postdoctoral research at Tufts University and the John Curtin School of Medical Research. His research focuses on ABC transporters, multidrug resistance mechanisms, and asbestos-related diseases. Key contributions include pioneering work on P-glycoprotein structure-function relationships and developing treatments for mesothelioma using zeolites.
- Education: PhD in Biochemistry, University of Sydney (1981)
- Affiliations: Faculty of Science, School of Life Sciences, UTS
- Research Interests: ABC transporters, drug resistance, mesothelioma treatment, and asbestos toxicity
His work on ABC transporters has advanced mechanistic understanding through molecular dynamics and structural studies, leading to novel models like the 'Reciprocating Twin-Channel' hypothesis. Recent projects include exploring zeolites to counteract asbestos-induced pathologies, achieving promising results in animal models. He has secured over $5 million in research funding and has been recognized with the Trailblazer Award (2008).
Teaching contributions include coordinating Molecular Biology 1 and DNA Profiling, with a focus on integrating current research into curricula.
