Anthony D'Elia is a Professor of History at Queen's University, with a cross-appointment in Classics and Archaeology. His work focuses on the intellectual and social history of the Italian Renaissance, particularly the interplay between classical pagan culture and Christian society. He holds a PhD from Harvard University and teaches courses in History and Classics, including advanced Latin seminars and lectures on Renaissance Europe.

His research explores themes such as humanism, classical tradition, neo-Latin literature, and the reception of antiquity. Notable works include Pagan Virtue in a Christian World (2016), A Sudden Terror (2009), and The Renaissance of Marriage (2004). Current projects examine sport, spectacle, and violence in antiquity and the Renaissance.
Publications span scholarly books, articles in journals like Renaissance Quarterly and Journal of the History of Ideas, and translations of Renaissance Latin texts such as Bartolomeo Platina’s Lives of the Popes.
