Anthony Amoroso

Anthony Amoroso, MD, is a Professor of Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and serves as Director of multiple programs at the Institute of Human Virology (IHV), including Clinical Community Health and Clinical Innovation. He is also Director of the Baltimore VA Hospital HIV Care and Infectious Diseases Clinic.

Dr. Amoroso's research focuses on improving HIV viral suppression rates in vulnerable populations, optimizing HIV clinical care delivery, and addressing infectious diseases in solid organ transplant recipients. His international work includes PEPFAR grants and leading the AIDSRelief Program in Guyana, Haiti, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Uganda.

His recent publications (2020–2024) span topics like COVID-19 seasonality modeling, transplant infectious diseases, antiretroviral adherence, and novel antimicrobial therapies. Key collaborations involve HIV-organ donation protocols (HOPE Act) and palliative care integration in HIV treatment.
