Anthony Adefolaju is a Senior Lecturer in Applied Anatomy at the Medical School. He holds a PhD in Anatomical Sciences from the University of the Witwatersrand (2011–2014), a PGDip in Higher Education from the University of KwaZulu-Natal (2019–2021), and a PGCert in Academic Practice from the University of Central Lancashire (2021–2023). He serves as an External Examiner at both the University of KwaZulu-Natal and the University of the Witwatersrand.
His research focuses on the biological effects of herbal extracts, particularly rooibos and Moringa oleifera, on reproductive health, cellular processes, and cancer. Key areas include in vitro studies on sperm viability, breast cancer cell apoptosis, and the role of herbal tisanes in diabetes management. His work contributes to Sustainable Development Goals related to health and innovation.
Recent publications highlight studies on herbal extracts' impact on male fertility, uterine implantation mechanisms, and the application of protease inhibitors in breast cancer research. He is currently accepting PhD students.
