معرفی
Professor Anthony A. Hyman is a leading researcher at the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics (MPI-CBG) in Dresden, with active collaboration in Technische Universität Dresden's Cluster of Excellence 'Physics of Life' (PoL). His work bridges cell biology and biophysics to investigate fundamental organizational principles of living systems.
Research centers on liquid-liquid phase separation in gene expression control, microtubule dynamics (particularly catastrophe kinesins), and cell polarity mechanisms using C. elegans as a model organism. His approach integrates physical principles to decode how cellular components self-organize, with current focus on the physics of living matter through the PoL initiative.
Major recognition includes:
- Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize (2011)
His research program has been sustained through multiple DFG Priority Programme grants, including projects on microtubule regulation, developmental polarity, and phase separation biology. Current leadership in the Cluster of Excellence 'Physics of Life' demonstrates ongoing commitment to large-scale collaborative science, while prior involvement in the International Graduate School for Biomedicine and Bioengineering Dresden (GSC 97) highlights mentorship contributions to doctoral training.
The MPI-CBG environment provides state-of-the-art infrastructure for interdisciplinary cell biology research, with Professor Hyman's group contributing to the institute's mission of uncovering molecular mechanisms underlying cellular organization.
