Anthea Vogl is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) Faculty of Law, co-running the Clinical Refugee Law Program and teaching Refugee Law, Administrative Law, and Legal Theory. Her academic work centers on refugee and immigration law with critical analysis of racialized border regulation.
Research interests span Refugee Law, Immigration Law, Border Criminology, Administrative Law, Legal Theory, and Racial Justice. Current projects include an Australian Research Council Discovery Project investigating privatization in refugee reception and resettlement, alongside involvement in the Emerald Borders, Criminalisation and Society Series book project (announced May 2025).
Key recognitions include:
- Visiting Fellowship at Berlin Institute for Integration & Migration, Humboldt University (2018)
- Visiting Fellowship at Centre for Criminology, Oxford University (2019)
As national co-convenor of Academics for Refugees, she leads advocacy for refugee rights in Australia. Her legal practice admission in the Supreme Court of NSW informs her scholarship on migration law implementation and policy critique.
