Dr. Annina Sandmeier-Walt serves as a Habilitation candidate at the Faculty of Theology, University of Lucerne, specializing in Church History. Her academic work centers on 19th-20th century Swiss monastic institutions within frameworks of cultural conflict, religious transformation, and societal change.
Her research examines Swiss monastic history through lenses of culture wars, confessional shifts, and social transformations, with particular focus on collective memory practices. Current projects include her habilitation thesis analyzing reformer Augustin Keller's contested legacy via topographical methodology, co-management of Aarau's city history initiative, and authorship of the forthcoming publication New Monastery Stories Muri and Wettingen (2027). She previously edited the reference work Profession Book of Engelberg Monastery.
