Annika Larsson

Annika Larsson is a Professor for Time-Based Media at the Muthesius Academy of Art and Design in Kiel since 2024. Her artistic practice investigates intersections of power, knowledge, embodiment, affect, and visuality through digital and physical media. She focuses on queer performativity, exploring gestures, rituals, and behaviors that disrupt power structures.

• Exhibited internationally at venues like the Venice Biennale, Fridericianum, and 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art
• Recipient of the Villa Massimo Prize (2014)
• Principal investigator for the artistic research project NON-KNOWLEDGE, LAUGHTER & THE MOVING IMAGE (2018-2022)

Her work combines experimental video, performance, and installation to interrogate systems of control through embodied resistance. Larsson's research was funded by the Swedish Research Council and conducted in collaboration with Royal Institute of Arts Stockholm and HFBK Hamburg.
