Annika Fjelkner Pihl serves as a Senior Lecturer in Educational Development in Higher Education at Kristianstad University (HKR), specifically within the Faculty of Economics and Business, Department of Law and Economics. Additionally, she holds roles as an Excellent teacher within the Faculty of Economics and as a Higher education pedagogy developer at the Library and higher education pedagogy department.
Her research focuses on student learning and factors influencing academic success, with particular emphasis on students' social relationships and multiplex networks. Ongoing research examines university teachers' relationship skills and strategies for fostering study-social relationships in classrooms. A current international research project (2024-2025) with Griffith University in Australia investigates the experiences of female students with ADHD regarding their studies and the support they receive. In 2023, she and Dr. Linda Plantin Ewe received external funding from UHR (Swedish Council for Higher Education) to develop a national higher education pedagogical course in relational pedagogy, which was piloted at HKR in spring 2024 before being implemented nationally.
Her publication record demonstrates consistent scholarly contributions to higher education pedagogy, with particular emphasis on student relationships, academic outcomes, and relational competence. Recent works include systematic reviews of relational competence in higher education and analyses of students' experiences with the research-teaching nexus, reflecting her commitment to evidence-based educational practices.

Dr. Fjelkner Pihl has led several significant projects including 'Relationskompetens i högre utbildning' (2023-2024) and 'Fil Plugga tillsammans' (2022). She serves as a peer reviewer for multiple academic journals including International Journal of Educational Research Open, Högre utbildning, and Innovative Higher Education. Her teaching responsibilities include business English, leadership courses, and academic writing instruction within the economics program at Kristianstad University.
She collaborates extensively with Dr. Linda Plantin Ewe on relational pedagogy initiatives and works with international partners from Griffith University in Australia on the ADHD research project. Her scholarly activities also include invited presentations on study-related relationships and their significance for meaningful learning.
