Annie Chen

Professor Annie Chen is a faculty member at the University of Roehampton, affiliated with the Faculty of Business and Law and the Centre for Sustainability and Responsible Management. She holds editorial roles at Journal of Tourism Research, International Journal of Tourism Research, and Journal of Consumer Psychology, and serves as a peer reviewer for several journals. Professor Chen has supervised PhD candidates to completion and is currently accepting new students. Her external roles include serving as an External Examiner at the University of Essex (2024–present), Queen Mary, University of London (2022–present), University of Greenwich (2020–present), and University of Kent (2017–2021).

Professor Chen’s research focuses on consumer behavior in tourism, destination marketing, and services management. Key areas include tourist decision-making, destination image, travel motivations, consumer emotion, service marketing, and quantitative methods like structural equation modeling. Her work bridges consumer psychology with practical applications in hospitality and tourism sectors, addressing issues such as food waste reduction, green hotel purchasing, and online health service adoption.

Her recent publications (2022–2025) explore topics ranging from sports fans’ travel intentions in emerging markets to the impact of service staff advice on consumer overordering. She has secured research funding from BA and MOST, with projects like the 2023 Research Incubator Labs initiative aimed at enhancing postgraduate research skills.
