Anni Pitkäniemi is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Department of Psychology, University of Helsinki, working within the Center of Excellence for Music, Mind, Body and Brain Research and the Cognitive Brain Research Unit (CBRU). Her research focuses on the intersection of music, neuroscience, and rehabilitation, particularly examining how musical interventions can aid in neurological recovery.

Dr. Pitkäniemi's research primarily investigates how musical activities, particularly singing, can facilitate neural recovery in conditions such as aphasia following stroke. She has been actively involved in several major research projects examining music's therapeutic potential for neurological conditions including aphasia, Alzheimer's disease, and healthy aging. Her publications demonstrate consistent growth in output, with increasing contributions to high-impact journals in neuroscience and rehabilitation fields.
Her scientific contributions have been recognized with a Best Poster Award in 2021.
