Professor Annette Menzel is an Ordinary Member of the Academy of Europe (elected 2023) in the Section of Ecology and Evolution, affiliated with the Technical University of Munich (TUM). She has held the Professorship of Ecoclimatology (W2) at TUM since 2007, preceded by her role as Assistant Professor (A14) in the Department of Ecology from 2003 to 2007. Her career spans interdisciplinary research on climate-ecosystem interactions, with a focus on extreme events and climate change impacts on terrestrial systems and human health.

Her research integrates atmospheric, biospheric, and hydrospheric dynamics, addressing critical themes like forest fires, drought resilience, phenology shifts, and aerobiological impacts of air pollution. She has pioneered work on urban ecosystems as models for climate change adaptation studies.
