Annette Krebs serves as a Lecturer at the Central Institute for Continuing Education and Transfer, Berlin University of the Arts. Based in Berlin since 1993, she is recognized as a pioneer in real-time electroacoustic music, specializing in the deconstruction of traditional instruments and the creation of live sonic environments through innovative use of objects, electronics, and improvisation.
Her research focuses on electroacoustic composition and sound research through the Konstruktion# series (since 2013), where everyday materials like metal, glass, and paper are transformed into amplified sonic assemblages. She explores intersections with field recordings, video art, and instrumental improvisation, processing sounds in real time via computers, tablets, and sensors to challenge conventional musical boundaries.
Krebs has secured grants from the Berlin Senate Department for Culture and Europe, Goethe Institute, and Akademie der Künste. Her work has been presented globally at venues including EMS Elektronmusik Studion (Stockholm), NOTAM (Oslo), and festivals such as Mona Foma (Tasmania) and TonalÁtonal (Mexico City), with releases featured in The Wire and Deutschlandradio Kultur.
