Annette Davies is the Adult Nursing Field Lead at the University of Surrey. She holds academic roles in teaching acute and critical care nursing, contributing to modules such as Practice Module 1, Physical Health Sciences, and Transition Care in the pre-registration curriculum. She also leads the Development of Clinical Practice (ITU) module in the Continuing Professional Development Programmes. Her clinical background includes 12 years as a Lecturer Practitioner at King's College Hospital and the Florence Nightingale School of Nursing and Midwifery, King's College London, alongside ward sister experience in Nephrology.
Educationally, she holds a BSc (Hons) and MSc in Nursing. Her research focuses on acute kidney injury (AKI), clinical practice development, and renal nursing education. She co-authored the NICE AKI guideline (2013) and participated in the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh’s UK Consensus Conference on AKI management. She is a co-founding consultant editor of the Journal of Renal Nursing and serves on the editorial board of the Renal Society of Australasia Journal.
Her publications emphasize practical clinical guidance, guideline implementation, and renal diagnostics. Her work spans fluid management techniques, AKI classification systems, and palliative care pathways. She has presented nationally on topics like fluid removal in hemodialysis and AKI case scenarios.
